Encompassing the nearly eight hundred-acre Marine Park complex, the neighborhood by the same name is a suburban oasis in southern Brooklyn, New York. The complex is the main attraction of the Marine Park community featuring a modern playground, salt marsh, a golf course, and more than one dozen baseball fields. There are no subway lines in Marine Park, but the neighborhood is home to New York City’s first indoor mall, the Kings Plaza. King’s Plaza boasts more than one million square feet housing over one hundred and fifty shops, its own marina, and a multiplex movie theater while serving as a starting point for seven bus lines. Speaking of bus lines, commuting to and from Marine Park is easy with direct access to the Q/B subway line, the L train terminal and Canarsie commercial district, and Emmons Avenue. Buses also provide connections to other places of interest, including Kings Highway shopping district.

There are several transportation arteries easily accessible from Marine Park as well, such as the Belt Parkway, which provides access to Manhattan, S.I., and Queens, and Flatbush Avenue, which leads directly to the heart of Brooklyn’s downtown area. Further contributing to the appeal of this quiet, seemingly isolated neighborhood are the many vibrant commercial strips located along its boundaries, including Avenue U, Gerritsen Avenue, Flatbush Avenue, and Flatlands Avenue. The neighborhood also boasts an abundance of playgrounds and parks, as well as a diverse school system, including several private school options in Marine Park and nearby Old Mill Basin and Sheepshead Bay. Additional Marine Park attractions include Salt Marsh Nature Center, Salt Marsh Nature Trails, Carmine Carro Community Center, Gerritsen Creek, Brennan and Carr, Nick’s Lobster Restaurant and Seafood Market, Marine Park Golf Course, and Michael’s of Brooklyn, to name a few.
