Comprising a peninsula bordered by Sheepshead Bay, Jamaica Bay, and the sparkling waters of the Atlantic Ocean, the Brooklyn neighborhood known as Manhattan Beach was originally developed by Austin Corbin as two resorts. Real estate mogul Joseph P. Day bought the properties when the resort business declined, and in 1908, just north of the resorts, residential development began. Today, among the area’s many advantageous features is the gorgeous forty-acre Manhattan Beach Park and some breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. Additionally, at the eastern end of Manhattan Beach is the seventy-plus-acre Kingsborough Community College that serves roughly thirty thousand students and was founded in 1963.

The aforementioned Manhattan Beach Park is a popular hangout for residents, complete with picnic areas and barbecue pits, tennis and basketball courts, and softball and baseball fields. In addition to these recreation opportunities, Manhattan Beach real estate is also in proximity to several public transportation options, including local buses B1 and B49, and the Q/B subway line at the western end of Manhattan Beach. Furthermore, Ocean Parkway, Coney Island Avenue, Ocean Avenue, and the Short Parkway are all easily accessible to auto-commuters.

Homes for sale in Manhattan Beach primarily consist of single-family residences. That said, there are gorgeous waterfront properties in Manhattan Beach as well. Most Manhattan Beach homes for sale have lush green lawns, swimming pools, and private garages. The variety of Manhattan Beach properties results in a broad range of listing prices to accommodate homebuyers in all seasons of life.
